Reading One Way IDR proposal

Reading's One Way IDR Proposal - Why it won't work

In the interests of residents and businesses in Reading, Edge Impact Websites developed the following graphic file to highlight why Reading Borough Council's proposal to make the Inner Distribution Road (IDR) one-way and reduce the number of lanes from 4 to 3 will not work.

There are people who say, one of them a councillor who lives in Caversham and travels across to the other side of the IDR every day, that there is no difference in time or travel distance if someone goes around the IDR one way or the other. This of course is true in one case only, namely if one goes from one point on the IDR circle to the exact opposite point on the IDR circle HOWEVER it is not true in ALL other cases. This is basic circle mathematics.

The flash video below highlights the fact of the extra distance travelled from the south however it is equally applicable to the extra distance required of the fire engines, the police and the ambulances. We hope you and those you care for don't need one.

Click on the button to see the distance the Red car travels (after the implementation of the one-way IDR) against the distance the Green car travels (two-way IDR). You decide and please do your bit...
